Magnetic Generator Q and A's

Magnetic Generator Plans - Magnet4Power

Many Scientists believe that the Earths Polarity could be getting ready to Shift. But before that Shift, it is stated that Polarity could completely or almost completely disapear for a period of time that is unkown. In such an event the earth would be susceptable to Cosmic rays, and Sun Radiation. Increasing the number of Cancer related deaths per year up to 100,000 or more.

So my question is:
Would it be possible to create and place Electromagnetic Generators at the Poles to either .

A: Draw the Iron in the core of the earth to the Poles corresponding polarity to Stabilize the Poles Magnetism and Field?

B: Create a New Magnetic Field that could possibly Deplete the amount of Solar Radiation coming into the earths atmosphere?

Thank you Yahooians.

    Just science-fiction. Or just mere fiction… :-)

It’s not proven that they simply disappear. One of our few ways of observing the magnetic polarities of the earth in the past is by looking at the mineral magnetite, which you can deduce from the name, is magnetic. When the poles are normal, it will point one way, when they switch, it would point another. There is not much proof that it just disappears. There aren’t any layers of random directions, meaning that there has always been a consistant amount of magnetism.

The magnetism is generated from the hot magma rising and cool magma descending in the earth’s crust (convection currents). It’s a huge dynamo in the center of the earth. There will have to be an abrupt stop in the movement of the earth’s core for that to happen. It won’t happen unless all the abundant radioactive elements in the earth’s core just disappeared.

Plus, if you look at basalt flows, the earth’s magnetism has switched hundreds of times over its history. No major extinctions corresponds to the changes. I don’t think there’s much to worry about.

Good idea, maybe you should write for hollywood. Sounds like a good sequil to the Core or Day After Tomorrow. Go and ask Al Gore for a hand. He’s into science fiction.

In any of your suggested ideas, I cant say if it may be possible at all, but what I know, both would require tremendous amount of energy that I can find nothing else than sustained fusion can provide. This is currently in development (see link). cant think any other way to get power of that magnitude…

something cheaper would be to use "anti-cosmic ray" materials to shield yourself, buildings and basically every thing. NASA is currently working on this and they found out some cheap materials to protect astronauts, I remember seeing this on Discovery channel in "mission to mars".
The problem is animals would not be protected… but cost would be wayyyyy cheaper.

The statement "polarity could completely … disappear for a period of time" is wrong. What really happens is that as the primary dipole loses strength, a secondary dipole gains strength. The secondary dipole will not be located near the axial poles. It is ludicrous to think mankind could devise (with today’s technology) any "Electromagnetic Generators at the Poles" that could match the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field. It is also absurd to think that mankind could extract iron from the core of the Earth due to heat and pressure constraints, not to mention the vast distance involved. Mankind has never mined the crust to the mantle, much less the core.
The Earth periodically undergoes polar shifts and, Surprise (!), life has not been wiped out due to it. If you are still worried you should stock up on Spam and bottled water.
