<p>This video shows the method that I will be using to conduct elapsed time tests of various rotor magnet layouts on the metal plates of the flywheel. This method will allow for a high degree of precision, which will be untainted by human error factors. I will be able to determine the precise interval of each start/stop duration, down to 1/100ths of a second. This will help me to determine if a change in rotor magnet layout, no matter how small, is going to be beneficial or detrimental, and takes all the guesswork out of the equation. The solution that I will be using for these timing tests centers around a wonderful software progam named XNOTE STOPWATCH, which was developed by Dmitry Nikitin, who has a website you can visit at www.xnotestopwatch.com You can download and try out XNOTE STOPWATCH for free, and purchase and registration of the program is only 24 dollars, a true bargain for a program loaded with so many useful features. Watch the video to learn more about XNOTE STOPWATCH, and how I will be implementing it for use in my test runs. This such a great program that I will be devoting 3 videos to fully explain its features, and how I will use them, so where this video leaves off, videos 34 and 35 will continue the explanations and demonstrations. <p>This video shows the results of a 5-test comparison of the magnet layout seen in video #36, and shows how I have used the data from those results to tweak the individual magnet groups for better performance. Knowing the precise elapsed time, or &#8220;Gap time&#8221; of each individual rotor magnet group tells us which groups are the weakest performers, and we can focus our attention on making these particular groups stronger. I show how I make a group stronger by adding a magnet, either double-stacked or single, and then compare test results to determine the actual performance gains. <p>This video completes the three video series showing how XNOTE STOPWATCH software, coupled with external control devices and switching, will be used for precision testing of various rotor magnet layouts. The next video in the Pipe Dream series will describe a new and improved rotor magnet layout, and will show a live elapsed time test of the layout, using both the start/stop function for overall elapsed time, and the snap function to determine the elapsed time intervals for each grouping section of the rotor magnets. There are six grouping sections in the new layout, so there will be six snaps shown in the test results. Each snap can be thought of as a snapshot of time, and the time intervals between the snaps will provide very useful information. It will help to determine not only improvements or detriments caused by magnet layout changes, but also will tell us if each grouping section is accelerating or slowing the rotation, and by how much.
